Props that capture a picture-perfect send off

Besides the part where they say “I do,” brides can’t wait to see how their send off photos turned out.

Looking for a send off that looks great on camera? Breanna Lingerfelt, Grandview’s event specialist, shares her tips for making the send off the highlight of your wedding album.

Sparklers are perhaps the most popular send off prop and for good reason. These sparkling rods look great in low lighting, and guests have fun handling them.

However, if razzle and dazzle is what you’re looking for, and you’re willing to spend a bit extra, it’s worth considering a cold sparkler machine. Common at sporting events and concerts, these machines are simply boxes that spray a burst of sparks high into the air. Not only does this look spectacular in person, but they look even better in the photos (with the right photographer, of course).

“You get these gorgeous pictures, and it looks like you've just got these massive fireworks behind you,” Lingerfelt said. “There's no smell, no heat, and they're completely safe.”

In fact, the sparks produced are quite cool to the touch. What’s more, you don’t have to go about disposing of charred rods afterward.

Bubbles are another popular prop that magically captures the moment. There’s something mesmerizing about bubbles, Perhaps it’s the rainbow tint reflected in each sphere, or the way they glimmer when out of focus

Bubble blowing, however, isn’t easy, especially after a couple of drinks. The trick to getting that perfect picture is to have many, many bubbles. That means ditching the wands for a couple of  bubble guns.

This inexpensive alternative provides more than enough bubbles with less work bestowed on your guests. And the cleanup is virtually nonexistent, so forget having to pick up any discarded bubble wands or soap containers.

If you aren’t afraid to make a mess, throwing rice is the classic wedding send off. And champagne showers are fun for those willing to get a bit wet. Just make sure it's okay with the event staff and discuss who’s responsible for cleaning up.

Perhaps you want your send off to reflect the season, like with flower petals or autumn leaves. Lingerfelt notes how one couple collected leaves from around Grandview’s lawn the day of their fall wedding to make for a colorful and beautiful send off that captured the season’s aura perfectly.

And the best part, it was a mess they didn’t have to pick up.
